Transformation Journey: Iris’s Triumph Over Fibroids Through Meditation and Lifestyle Changes

In August 2015, a woman began experiencing unusual growth in her uterus, which led her to consult a gynecologist in October. An ultrasound revealed that her uterus had expanded to 12 centimeters in diameter, causing discomfort akin to pregnancy. The gynecologist recommended an urgent hysterectomy, suggesting a large incision across her abdomen from one hip to the other due to the significant size of the uterus. However, the woman hoped to go on holiday in December and inquired about less invasive options. She learned that fibroids, which were contributing to the uterine growth, are often influenced by hormones, and she was already using hormonal creams because she was pre-menopausal.

Seeking alternative solutions, she found a book in the library called “You are the Placebo,” written by someone she recognized from the documentary “What the Bleep Do We Know?” Inspired by the book, she began meditating while also stopping her hormone treatments. Remarkably, within just two weeks of starting meditation, she felt significant relief—specifically, the pressure on her bladder reduced, and she could fit into her clothes again. Doubting such rapid improvement, her gynecologist initially refused another ultrasound, thinking her anxiety was influencing her perception of improvement. But after some persistence, he agreed to re-evaluate her condition and was astonished to find that the fibroids had shrunk by three centimeters in just two weeks.

Buoyed by these results, the gynecologist encouraged her to continue whatever she was doing and suggested the decision to proceed with the operation was now up to her. Feeling much better, she chose to cancel the surgery. Subsequently, she enjoyed her holiday without any issues, ceased hormone treatments, and reported that her symptoms dramatically improved. Previously, her condition had caused severe menstrual discomfort, including heavy bleeding and pain, but these symptoms subsided. Grateful for the unexpected turnaround, she concluded by expressing her immense gratitude for her improved health and wellbeing.
